One-way adventure

XP at Sea Sailing is excited to present our first multi-boat event providing learning opportunities for every level of sailor.

Sailing in Greece is fabulous and with daily weather and passages to plan for, marina manoeuvres to negotiate, not to mention the social interaction to keep you entertained throughout, this is a trip that will live long in the memory.

Along this dynamic route we have the potential to stop and get our culture fix by visiting several historic sites, including the ampitheatre of Epidavros and the ancient seat of the Oracle at Delphi.

As part of this unique educational environment, you will be amongst a group of like-minded sailors in a fleet of 12 Omegasail yachts.

With a leadership group of highly qualified sailors, including RYA YMI's, technicians and mechanics you can sail with confidence knowing you are well supported.

Choose from the following options:-

Option 1: Development - Boat Handling

Join one of two yachts that has the express aim of building confidence in the boat handling techniques you learned on your training course, including how to manoeuvre and moor Med-style with twin rudders. Repetition under guidance means you will quickly build proficiency and confidence. Perfect for hands-on solo sailors intent on learning. Scroll down for more detail.

5 cabins available

Option 2: Development - Command

Are you a more experienced sailor who is aiming for bareboating, higher qualifications or even loftier ambitions like yacht ownership? Join XP founder Blair for a masterclass like no other where, in addition to all of the usual planning and boat handling development, we take a deep dive into the learning/teaching, communication and psychological methodologies that next level skippers employ. Command is a skill that can be developed just like any other so take the next step and sign up to this unique learning opportunity. Scroll down for more detail.

4 cabins available

Option 3: Book a cabin, create a crew

We can offer to put suitable teams together to go sail and skipper for yourselves, making sure the qualifications and experience are balanced to ensure a fantastic sailing trip. Perfect for experienced small groups and/or solo sailors holding RYA Day Skipper (or equivalent) or above. Advice is always on hand to make your trip a success.

Option 4: Bareboat

Book a yacht and bring your own crew.  It does not get any simpler than that.  You control all elements on board and still have access to the advice and security that comes with being part of a fleet. If you are ready to spread your wings and have a crew ready to go then this is the option for you. RYA Day Skipper (ICC) minimum for both Skipper and 1st Mate.

Development

Boat Handling

Taking elements of XP at Sea's Day Skipper Development course in the UK, this is a chance to build confidence in the basics.

  • Tacking with efficiency
  • Gybing with safety
  • Anchoring with confidence
  • Parking alongside
  • Med mooring
  • Man overboard

We offer the chance to practice the physical actions over and over giving every sailor on board the experience they need to make decisions for themselves.

Perfect practice makes perfect, and with low numbers per boat you get plenty!

Under the guidance of pro-skippers and taking every opportunity to work on different manoeuvres, you will be surprised how quickly you level up.

Development

Command

Making safe and smart decisions is part and parcel of being a Skipper.  The RYA does a brilliant job of teaching those responsibilities.

That said being in command is much more challenging than sailors realise.  It can be difficult to get your message across without causing friction.

XP at Sea created a Skippering Masterclass programme in the UK to train the exact awareness and techniques required to improve upon this shortcoming in education. So what is involved?

  • Understanding learning and teaching styles
  • How people process information
  • Communication and its impact
  • Offering feedback
  • Predicting the future
  • Comfort vs Stretching vs Panic
  • ...and so much more!

All skippers need to understand these topics in more depth to avoid common pitfalls and enjoy sailing to the fullest.
